Studnicka signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Panthers on Tuesday, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a two-way deal for Studnicka, so he could spend a lot of the 2025-26 campaign with AHL Charlotte. The 26-year-old registered 16 goals, 45 points and a plus-4 rating across 72 regular-season games with AHL Ontario this past season. Studnicka last appeared in the NHL in 2023-24 with the Sharks.

Given a fresh start after getting squeezed out of the Bruins' plans, Studnicka didn't do much with it in Vancouver. He totaled eight points in 48 games last season, with all but one of those appearances coming as a Canuck. The second-round pick from 2017 will likely need to prove himself in 2022-23, which may be hard to do since there's no guarantee he'll be in the lineup on a regular basis. Even if he can earn consistent playing time, he'll likely be limited to the bottom six, so there's little reason for fantasy managers to consider him on draft day.
Studnicka is on the verge of cracking the NHL roster after he notched 23 goals and 49 points with AHL Providence last season. He also made his NHL debut in 2019-20, playing two games and earning a single assist. The second-round pick from 2017 will likely have to play outside of his natural center position if he's going to make the Opening Night roster, but there's plenty of reason to believe he can do it. His offensive production is likely to be limited in 2020-21, but dynasty-league managers who haven't invested in the Ontario native should do so now before it's too late -- his strong two-way game will likely lead to a productive career.
Studnicka, who the Bruins took 53rd overall in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, finished off his junior career with a splash, posting a 36-47-83 stat line in 60 games split between OHL Oshawa and Niagara in 2018-19. As a result, the 6-foot-1, 171-pounder has risen to the top of the Bruins' prospect ranks, and could make a run at spot with the big club this coming season. Even if he does require some AHL seasoning before making the leap to the NHL, Studnicka could parlay his heady two-way skills into a regular role with the Bruins as the 2019-20 season rolls along.
Studnicka, who the Bruins took 53rd overall in the 2017 NHL Entry draft, led the WHL's Oshawa Generals in scoring last season with 72 points (including 22 goals) while serving as team captain. The 19-year-old needs some seasoning before making the leap to the big club, but the 6-foot-1, 171-pounder projects as a heady two-center at the NHL level and there's even been buzz that he could be a dark-horse candidate to secure a gig at the top level as soon as this season.

Per Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now, Studnicka is not expected to get a qualifying offer from the Sharks, making him an unrestricted free agent Monday.
ANALYSIS
Studnicka played in 22 regular-season games between San Jose and Vancouver in 2023-24. He only managed to find the back of the net on one occasion and was unable to garner an assist. The 25-year-old will try to catch on elsewhere in the NHL, likely on a two-way contract.
