A shoulder injury derailed Mursak's NHL prospects in 2012-13, but he burned up the ice in the postseason with the Griffins, scoring 17 points in 24 games. He may have to wait another year to make the NHL, however, as the Red Wings' stable of forwards is pretty full. He should be one of the first in line should injuries occur in Detroit.
Entering training camp, Mursak faces an uphill battle to secure a roster spot in Detroit as he was limited to just 25 games last season while playing less than eight minutes per night as a limited fourth-line contributor. A non-displaced ankle fracture sidelined Mursak until January and he was unable to recoup a steady dose of playing time upon returning. If the speedster sticks, he'll likely be limited to rotational work as the team's 13th or 14th forward.
