The smooth-skating offensive defenseman improved his point total by just three points in the 2013-14 season, which also featured a short 8-game demotion to the ECHL. In 51 games in Rochester, Gauthier-Leduc scored just 10 points. A third-round pick from 2010, the Sabres have collected a strong group of prospects since then, and Gauthier-Leduc’s slowing development is pushing him to the sidelines. He’s entering the final year of his entry-level contract so he has plenty to prove, and he’ll start by attempting to secure a regular spot in the lineup with Rochester.
