2018
In 44 contests with AHL Binghamton last season, Anderson racked up 15 goals and 19 assists, which helped him earn a call-up to the big club in early February. Once he cracked the roster, the 21-year-old winger logged 18 games with the Devils, picking up four goals, two helpers and 21 shots while averaging 13:13 of ice time. The tenacious winger's performance in the minors clearly caught the attention of the Maple Leafs, who brought Anderson into the fold as part of a salary dumping deal to move Andreas Johnsson to New Jersey. Looking ahead to 2020-21, Anderson should be capable of earning a spot on Toronto's 23-man roster, though he may struggle to secure minutes over the likes of Jason Spezza and Jimmy Vesey, which will make him a low-end fantasy option at best even in deeper formats.
Anderson got his first taste of NHL action in 2018-19, compiling seven points in 34 games. With the Devils making a few notable acquisitions this offseason, the 2016 third-rounder will be stuck battling for a roster spot. With just six points in 13 games of AHL experience, Anderson could probably benefit from more minor-league seasoning, anyway, so don't be surprised to see him start the year down with AHL Binghamton.
Anderson inked a three-year, entry-level deal with the Devils in April after leading the University of Minnesota-Duluth to the NCAA Championship. The 2016 third-rounder played two years of NCAA hockey with the Bulldogs, accumulating 23 goals and 64 points in 75 games. He'll compete for a bottom-six role with the parent club in camp, but Anderson's most likely destination to start his career is AHL Binghamton.
