ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old power forward was originally drafted by the Bruins with a fifth-round pick in 2010, but he only made his way into four NHL games back in 2013-14. It's not uncommon for a player to head overseas if North American hockey doesn't bear fruit.

Florek offers good size at 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, but after failing to stick around with the Bruins for a significant portion of last season, it’s unlikely he emerges as a forward option on a deeper Islanders squad in 2015-16. At this stage, Florek is organizational depth and would need a rash of injuries to have any shot at joining the team.
The 24-year-old played four games with the Bruins last season, tallying a goal and an assist over that span. The lanky winger (6-foot-4, 199 pounds) spent most of the 2013-14 season with Providence in the AHL, recording 38 points (19 goals, 19 assists) in 69 games with the team. He'll compete for a roster spot with the big club in training camp with a couple of spots currently up for grabs up front, and even if he doesn't stick initially, Florek will be a candidate for an in-season call-up.
The Northern Michigan Florek, who was named a finalist for CCHA’s Best Defensive Forward Award and named to the CCHA’s Second Team in 2011-12 season, recorded 11 goals and 27 points in 71 games in his first full season as a pro with AHL Providence. The 6-foot-4, 194-pounder continues to project as a defensively responsible depth forward for the B’s organization.
The Northern Michigan product, who was named a finalist for CCHA’s Best Defensive Forward Award and named to the CCHA’s Second Team this past season, finished up the 2011-12 season with AHL Providence, recording two goals and four points in eight games. He projects as a depth forward for the B’s organization, but he’d have to leapfrog a handful of other contenders to make any sort of impact this season.
