2025 Fantasy Outlook
Sturm's career has come full circle as he's back with the Wild, the team that signed him as a college free agent in 2019. Now 30 years old, Sturm is coming off a season in which he recorded seven goals and seven assists in 62 regular-season games. His ice time with the Wild may be a little higher than what he got with San Jose (10:08) or Florida (11:18) during the 2024-25 regular season, but his main roles will still be on the fourth line and penalty kill. Without too much to speak of in the way of blocks or hits -- he holds career highs of 45 and 100 in each category, respectively -- he doesn't hold too much value in fantasy contexts. Contributes two assists
Sturm logged two assists, two shots on goal and two hits in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Avalanche in Game 5.
ANALYSIS
This was Sturm's first multi-point effort since Dec. 7, 2023. He ended the postseason at one goal, four assists, 10 shots on net, 17 hits and an even plus-minus rating over eight appearances. The Wild could experience some turnover at forward this offseason, but Sturm is under contract and will be in contention for bottom-six minutes if he remains with the team to start 2026-27.

Ticketed for a depth role on the ever-rebuilding Sharks, Sturm appeared in 63 games last season, managing five goals and 13 points. He missed a month in the middle of the year due to injury and finished with a ghastly minus-25 rating, not all that surprising considering he played for the worst team in the NHL. The Sharks are going to be bad again this coming season, but they made some moves around the margins to improve their team, meaning Sturm is far from a lock to see guaranteed playing time, even in a fourth-line role.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could return Sunday
Sturm, who has missed the start of the year due to a back injury, could make his season debut in Winnipeg on Sunday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach John Hynes said Tuesday that Sturm was "maybe a week or two away" from returning to action, but the 30-year-old will likely be able to return slightly earlier than anticipated. He's slated to practice Saturday, and he's expected to be activated off injured reserve if he feels good afterward. He should claim a bottom-six role once he's officially healthy.
