Achilles
September 22, 2022
Knyzhov (Achilles) is not guaranteed to return for the Sharks this season, Corey Masisak of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Knyzhov is putting in work after undergoing Achilles surgery in August. General manager Mike Grier indicated the Sharks are hopeful the 24-year-old defenseman can play at some point, but also suggested the team will be cautious. It makes sense, as the Sharks are not likely to be competitive this year and don't need to rush a young player back before he's fully recovered.

2021 Fantasy Outlook
Kynzhov was regularly skating in the Sharks' top four by season's end in 2020-21 alongside Erik Karlsson or Brent Burns. And while his 10 points in 56 games doesn't stand out, his muscle and sandpaper sure do. Kynzhov earned the Sharks' top rookie award last season and could be a sleeper fantasy pick in multicategory formats. He might even be good for 20 points, 80-100 blocks and 150 hits this year. It remains to be seen if he's good enough to be a permanent fixture in the Sharks' top four, but Kynzhov will get every chance to prove his mettle.
