2026 Fantasy Outlook
Laba won a job out of training camp and proceeded to hold onto a third-line center role for the Rangers all year. He ended his rookie year with nine goals, 15 assists, 73 shots on net, 110 hits, 43 blocked shots, 31 PIM and a plus-2 rating over 74 outings. Laba doesn't have the highest ceiling compared to the Rangers' other prospects, but it's not a bad thing if he evolves into a reliable defensive center who can add some grit to the lineup. He also collected five points on the power play. Consider Laba as more of a playmaker than a finisher. With modest gains in 2026-27, he should top the 10-goal and 25-point marks while adding 120-plus hits and decent totals in blocks and PIM. At a deep center position, he probably won't move the needle enough in fantasy. Read Past Outlooks
Supplies helper in return
Laba notched an assist and four shots on goal in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Laba returned from a five-game absence due to a lower-body injury. He had five points over seven contests prior to the injury, but he was on the fourth line Sunday as the Rangers had both J.T. Miller and Mika Zibanejad at center. If Laba remains on the fourth line, his potential will be reduced. He's earned nine goals, 13 helpers, 65 shots on net, 99 hits, 42 blocked shots and 22 PIM over 66 appearances as a rookie this year.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Poised for NHL debut
Laba is expected to make his NHL debut against the Penguins on Tuesday, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Laba was selected by the organization in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL Draft and has finally made it to the main event. After wrapping up his collegiate career last year, the 22-year-old center had a cup of coffee in the AHL, logging 11 games for AHL Hartford in which he garnered three goals and two assists. Laba is far from a lock to spend the entire campaign in the NHL, but he clearly showed the organization enough to at least get a chance to prove himself at the NHL level.
