Kaski's hockey roots include a two-year stint with Western Michigan University before he returned to his native Finland, honing his craft within the Mestis and SM-liiga circuits from 2016-18. Last season, the right-shot rearguard broke out offensively with the foreign-league Pelicans, adding a league-high 51 points (19 goals, 32 assists) to complement a plus-9 rating over 59 games. Kaski, who possesses a wicked shot and is lauded for his ability to jump-start an offense, earned a one-year, entry-level contract with the Red Wings in May. He'll stand a fighting chance of cracking the Opening Night roster out of training camp.
