Johnson had two goals, five points, 40 PIM, 51 shots and 109 hits across 42 contests with Chicago in 2023-24, but he didn't play past March 12 due to a concussion. The Blackhawks opted not to present the 26-year-old with a qualifying offer, which made him an unrestricted free agent this summer and led to the Saskatchewan native joining Minnesota on a one-year, two-way contract. Provided that he's healthy, Johnson will fight for a bottom-six spot during training camp. He's not a solid bet to secure a place on the roster, though, and he'll probably be a frequent healthy scratch even if he does make the team.
