Contract trade voided
Kesler's (hip) contract will return to the Ducks from Vegas after the deal that sent it to the Knights was voided by the NHL on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
While this deal will have no impact on Kesler, who is essentially retired due to his hip problem, it puts Vegas in a tough cap spot having to take back Evgenii Dadonov and his $5 million salary. With Kesler's contract expiring this offseason, the Ducks won't be impacted by having to hold onto his $6.875 million cap hit for the rest of the 2021-22 campaign.

Kesler underwent hip surgery in May and is expected to miss the entirety of the 2019-20 campaign as a result. Hip issues have torpedoed each of the 34-year-old's last two seasons, limiting him to 22 points in 104 contests since the start of 2017-18. The Ducks still think Kesler may be able to return to hockey in 2020-21, but for now, he should be avoided entirely in all fantasy formats.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Rights could be acquired by Vegas
Kesler, who has essentially retired due to chronic hip issues, could have his rights acquired by the Golden Knights, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports.
ANALYSIS
The Golden Knights need to clear up cap space in order to activate Jack Eichel, who's recovering from artificial disc replacement surgery, from long-term injured reserve, and acquiring Kesler's $6.675 million cap hit would actually help them to do so. After acquiring Kesler, Vegas would simply place the essentially retired center on LTIR, which would allow the team to exceed the NHL's salary cap by his $6.675 million annual salary. It's unclear if the Ducks would ask for any assets in return to offload Kesler's salary.
