Heading north in trade
Morrow was traded to the Rangers from the Hurricanes on Tuesday, along with a conditional first-round pick and a second-round pick in 2026, in exchange for K'Andre Miller (upper body), per PuckPedia.
ANALYSIS
Morrow is a high-end defensive prospect, but the Hurricanes appear fine to part with him to get a more NHL-ready player in Miller. The 22-year-old Morrow should have plenty of opportunity in training camp to establish himself as a top-four option and a power-play candidate with the Rangers. He has earned six points over 16 NHL regular-season contests across the last two campaigns.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2022
Morrow made his NHL debut, playing a pair of games at the end of the regular season with the Hurricanes in 2023-24 after ending his collegiate career at UMass-Amherst. The defenseman had six goals and 30 points in 37 NCAA games last season and chose to forego his senior year to sign with the Hurricanes. It's likely that Morrow will start the season at AHL Chicago and could be recalled if the Hurricanes have an injury or two on the blue line. Morrow was selected in the second round, 40th overall in 2021, so Carolina has plenty invested in him.
