Collins was re-signed this offseason but will likely continue to hone his skills in the AHL. Collins does have some NHL experience and does provide depth if needed. The defenseman has showed some promise but do not expect him to be a mainstay with the club when this season rolls around.
Collins, a 26 year old defenseman has not played too much over the last few years, but does have 15 games of NHL experience. He will need to prove himself at the AHL level in order to have any chance of making it back to the majors.
Collins split most of his time between Washington and Hershey last season, appearing in 15 games with Washington. He recorded a goal and an assist in those first 15 games of his career. He has made a strong showing during camp so far and has a good chance to make this roster.
