Steve Wagner

Wagner scored eight points in 24 games in limited action with the Blues in 2007-08. He'll see a more prominent role this season especially considering the preseason injuries on the Blues' blue line. There won't be much demand for him from fantasy team owners early but he could prove to be a valuable addition later on.

Wagner has literally come out of nowhere to grab one of the top six blueline spots for the Blues. He spent three years at the University of Minnesota-Mankato (two with teammate David Backes), notching 12 goals and 43 assists in 113 games. He played 14 games in the AHL for the Peoria Rivermen last season and had one goal and two assists. Blues' head coach Andy Murray believes Wagner gives the team another offensive defenseman, something they're a little short on. Wagner could be decent sleeper material this year - keep an eye on him.
