Biggs has been sent to AHL Wilkes-Barre, the Penguins’ minor-league affiliate, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Biggs was involved in a blockbuster trade with Toronto this past summer, which also saw stud forward Phil Kessel wind up in Pittsburgh. A torn Achilles that required surgery last March has slowed his development, so hopefully he can stay on the ice for a full season and take on a bigger role in the minors.

Biggs' development has been slower than the Leafs first thought when he was drafted in 2011. "The key word for the organization now [on Biggs] is patience," Toronto Marlies coach Steve Spott told the The Star. "He grew leaps and bounds and he found the role he’s going to have to play to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs, which is a depth power forward who can kill penalties and be physical."
