2025 Fantasy Outlook
Heinola spent much of 2024-25 in the NHL after recovering from a season-opening ankle injury, but he didn't get a lot of playing time. He logged only 18 regular-season appearances, picking up one assist, 16 blocked shots, eight hits and a plus-6 rating. Heinola drew into the lineup for just two games after the start of February, and with the Jets returning the same blue line as they had at the end of last year, his chances of playing regularly are bleak. He'll compete with Haydn Fleury and Logan Stanley for third-pairing minutes. Read Past Outlooks
Stuck in press box
Heinola was scratched for the 18th game in a row in Saturday's 7-1 loss to the Flyers.
ANALYSIS
Heinola was called up to practice with the Jets late in the Olympic break, and he played three times over five games after the schedule resumed. He's been in the press box ever since, even after Elias Salomonsson (concussion) exited the lineup. Heinola may get a chance to play now that the Jets are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. The 25-year-old defenseman hasn't played in enough games in his career to maintain restricted free agent status, so he will be a Group 6 unrestricted free agent this summer, though it's unclear if he'll have much of a market for even a two-way deal.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Likely headed to minors
Heinola, who is recovering from a broken ankle, will probably spend some time in the minors, per Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Heinola has yet to make his season debut after suffering his ankle injury in the preseason and may need some time in the minors to get his legs under him. Even once cleared to play, Heinola is far from a lock for a spot in the lineup and would likely have to challenge Dylan Samberg for minutes.
