Lara lost to Ilima-Lei Macfarlane via submission (armbar) at 3:55 of Round 3 at Bellator 201 on Friday in Temecula, Calif.
Lara earned this title shot after only one win in Bellator. In the first round, it looked like she might be able to pull off the upset. She gave Macfarlane a lot of trouble with her movement and reach. The champion failed on a takedown, and Lara did some solid work from the top position. However, in the next two rounds, Macfarlane was able to score takedowns and work from the top position. In the third round, she made it to the mount and finished with an armbar. Lara did not pull the upset, but she proved that she is a legitimate flyweight.
