Gets finished quickly in Nashville
BantamweightUFC
March 23, 2019
Saenz lost to Marlon Vera via TKO (punches) at 1:25 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night 148 in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Saenz likes to crash forward with strikes to set up his wrestling game but Vera didn't give the veteran a chance to get comfortable in this fight, dropping him with a straight left when he decided to come forward. While it is true that shots to the back of the head facilitated the stoppage, Saenz looked to be all but out of the fight prior to the legal strikes, leaving little room for any real grievance. Saenz was coming off two solid wins against Merab Dvalishvili and Henry Briones but at 38 years old, it may be time to begin asking if his time as a fighter is drawing to a close. Saenz falls to 13-6 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

Works his way to a decision victory at UFC Chile
BantamweightUFC
May 19, 2018
Saenz defeated Henry Briones via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Santiago, Chile.
ANALYSIS
Saenz worked his way to a decision win here. He seemed to land the better combinations throughout the contest. The Arizona native also landed some takedowns and took over the third round with his wrestling. The only thing that would give his fans pause was his defensive striking. Saenz landed a variety of strikes, but he also ate too many wild combinations from Briones. All in all, this was an impressive win, and he has now won back-to-back fights after a three-fight losing streak.

BantamweightUFC
December 9, 2017
Saenz defeated Dvalishvili via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Fresno, Calif.
ANALYSIS
Saenz and Dvalishvili engaged in a hard and grueling fight. Dvalishvili was pushing for takedowns the entire fight. Saenz did his best to stay on his feet and land strikes. When he ended up getting taken down, he immediately got back to his feet and engaged in a striking battle. Saenz really needed a win after dropping his previous three fights. He had not won since defeating Sirwan Kakai in 2015. He improves to 12-5 as a professional.
