Manny Bermudez
The Bermuda Triangle

Booked for UFC Boston
September 13, 2019
Bermudez has been booked to fight Charles Rosa in a featherweight bout at UFC on ESPN 6 in Boston on Oct. 18, Farah Hannoun of USA Today reports.
Bermudez is coming off the first loss of his professional career, but his chance to rebound will come in an entirely different weight class, as Bermudez moved up to featherweight (145 pounds) back in August. The loss that led to the change came against Casey Kenney via unanimous decision at UFC 241, but he still boasts a 3-1 record in the octagon.

UFC forces weight class change
August 18, 2019
Bermudez will move up to featherweight (145 pounds) following his loss to Casey Kenney at UFC 241 on Saturday, Marc Raimondi of ESPN reports.
The writing was on the walls when the UFC moved this scheduled bantamweight bout to a 140-pound catchweight fight prior to Friday's weigh-ins. It was still likely a tough cut for Bermudez even with the five pounds of leeway, as he weighed in at 164.8 pounds on fight night -- nearly 20 pounds heavier than his opponent. Unfortunately for Bermudez, it didn't give him the advantage he sought, and he ended up losing the fight. Bermudez would have likely continued with these brutal weight cuts without intervention, so the promotion will step in and force a move up to featherweight. It will still be a difficult cut for Bermudez, but in theory, he should have improved cardio and be less susceptible to knockouts moving forward, though he'll likely forfeit the size advantage he had been getting while competing at 135 pounds.
Suffers first career loss
August 17, 2019
Bermudez lost to Casey Kenney via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC 241 on Saturday in Anaheim.
It's the first professional loss of Bermudez's career. Blessed with a significant size advantage and entering as a healthy (-170) favorite, Bermudez started very slowly in Rounds 1 and 2 before picking up the pace in the third and final frame. By then, the damage had already been done. Bermudez did land three of four takedown attempts, but Kenney's consistent work from the bottom severely limited Bermudez's ability to take advantage of his positional edge. Bermudez remains an intriguing prospect, but the 25-year-old's stock took a hit with this performance.
Bout weight class changed
August 16, 2019
Bermudez's fight with Casey Kenney has been adjusted to a 140-pound catchweight, reports.
Bermudez missed weight in his last bout against Benito Lopez, so the weight change may be a result of a fear that he may miss the mark again. To alleviate any of those worries, the UFC suggest an adjustment in the weight class and both fighters agreed to it. Bermudez checks in as the favorite at -150 as of Friday morning.
Booked for UFC 241
July 8, 2019
Bermudez has been booked to take on Casey Kenney in a bantamweight bout at UFC 241 on Aug. 17, Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie reports.
Bermudez is a perfect 14-0 in his professional MMA career and 3-0 since joining the UFC in early 2018. He is coming off a victory at UFC on ESPN 1 back in February over Benito Lopez via submission, with the finish being nothing new for the 24-year-old. Each of Bermudez's last six victories ended via submission and only one went beyond the first round.
Flexes submission skill
February 17, 2019
Bermudez defeated Benito Lopez via submission (D'arce choke) at 3:09 of Round 1 at UFC on ESPN 1 on Sunday in Phoenix.
It was clear from the start that Bermudez had the grappling advantage in this fight. He came close on a few guillotine chokes, but Lopez was able to scramble out. As they continued to scramble, Lopez left his chin out once again. This time Bermudez did not miss the chance. He locked on a d'arce choke and finished the fight. Even though he missed weight for this fight, Bermudez was able to pick up his third-straight win in the UFC and extended his career record to 14-0.
