Retires following win Saturday
FeatherweightUFC
January 19, 2019
Bermudez defeated Te Edwards via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
Bermudez retired after the fight despite the victory. He had openly contemplated stepping aside following his last bout and he will go out on top in his home state. A move up to lightweight for the first time since 2010 was all Bermudez needed to snap a four-fight losing streak. Bermudez started slowly before an exhausted Edwards allowed him to find his range. He finished with five takedowns on nine attempts and a 83-24 edge in total strikes landed due to all the control time he racked up on the mat. Bermudez's decision to walk away is surprising given the fact he is just 32 years old, but he seems to be at peace with the decision. Bermudez made his UFC debut against Diego Brando in December 2011.

FeatherweightUFC
December 27, 2018
Bermudez will make his lightweight debut when he fights Te Edwards at UFC on ESPN+ on Jan. 19, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bermudez will make his lightweight debut at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, as he looks to avoid a fifth straight loss. After beginning his career with seven straight victories, Bermudez has now dropped six of his last eight fights, with his most recent defeat coming against Rick Glenn via split decision at UFC Fight Night on July 14 in Boise, Idaho.
Suffers third-straight split decision loss Saturday in Boise
FeatherweightUFC
July 14, 2018
Bermudez lost to Rick Glenn via split decision (27-30, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Boise, Idaho.
ANALYSIS
Make that three straight split decision losses for "The Menace". You would think Bermudez learned his lesson in regards to not leaving his fights in the hands of the judges, but apparently he did not. Saturday's trio preferred Glenn's striking skills to Bermudez's six successful takedowns. As has been the case throughout the course of his career, Bermudez looked awkward and uncomfortable on the feet. He finds himself reaching far too often and the vast majority of his offense comes from top position. He didn't do much after the takedowns and while this is another bout of his that could have gone either way, Bermudez simply isn't creating enough offense to stop his opposition. With four straight losses under his belt, Bermudez may not get another shot with the company.
Loses third straight fight Saturday in Charlotte
FeatherweightUFC
January 27, 2018
Bermudez lost to Andre Fili via split decision (28-29, 30-27, 28-29) at UFC on FOX 27 on Saturday in Charlotte.
ANALYSIS
That'll do it for Bermudez being a legitimate threat in the UFC's featherweight division. Did Bermudez deserve a better fate? Perhaps, but his great skill (wrestling) disappeared when he needed it the most. The Menace landed just 1-of-6 takedown attempts while he allowed Fili to score on 4-of-10 tries. They are both unthinkable numbers when you take into account the edge that Bermudez seemingly had in that area. Bermudez is now riding a 3-fight losing streak and is 2-5 dating back to November 2014. While a release is unlikely, it cannot be totally ruled out.
Adds fight against Andre Fili
FeatherweightUFC
December 20, 2017
Bermudez will take on Andre Fili at at UFC on FOX 27 in Charlotte, North Carolina, on January 27, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bermudez came into the year having won nine of his previous 11 bouts, but dropped both of his bouts in 2017, to Chan Sung Jung in February and Darren Elkins in July. "The Menace" will look to get back on track against Fili, in what amounts to a needed win for Bermudez following his rough past two outings. On the other side, Fili recently defeated Artem Lobov via unanimous decision in Poland in October, and holds a 17-5 career record as a professional, but is just 5-4 since joining the UFC in 2013.
Can't find rhythm in loss to Darren Elkins
FeatherweightUFC
July 22, 2017
Bermudez lost to Darren Elkins via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC on FOX 25 on Saturday in Long Island, New York.
ANALYSIS
It's a crushing, crushing loss for Bermudez. Despite having a significant speed, strength, and power advantage, Bermudez struggled to get in a rhythm throughout the course of the fight. His best moments came in the final few minutes of Round 3. Bermudez landed just two of eight takedown attempts, a shockingly low number considering all the advantages that Bermudez seemingly should have had. It was a confusing and frustrating performance for "The Menace." Bermudez is a darn good fighter, but it seems unlikely at this point that he will ever get over the hump. This is a monumental setback.
