November 28, 2020
Costa will fight Trevin Jones at UFC 259 on March 6th, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Costa is coming off a knockout win over Journey Newson in September. He has now won six of his first seven professional fights via first-round knockouts. Meanwhile, Jones will make his first appearance following a suspension, which he received for a positive marijuana test. Jones is 12-6-0 as a professional fighter.

41-second knockout victory
BantamweightUFC
September 19, 2020
Costa defeated Journey Newson via KO (head kick) at 0:41 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
That should be more than enough to earn Costa a $50,00 Performance of the Night bonus, which he did end up receiving at the conclusion of the show. Fighting for the first time in 11 months, Costa picked his spot and unloaded a head kick that turned Newson's lights out. You can't do it any better. The sample size is extremely small, but Costa has now earned first-round knockout victories in six of his first seven professional fights. His only defeat came to Brandon Davis in his UFC debut back in April 2019.

September 14, 2020
Costa will take on Journey Newson in a bantamweight matchup at the UFC event scheduled for Sept. 19 in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Originally targeted for Sept. 26, this fight will remain stateside in the UFC's final show before heading back to Fight Island for UFC 253. Costa lost his UFC debut via submission to Brandon Davis all the way back in April of 2019, but bounced back with a first-round finish of Boston Salmon the following October. He was targeted for a fight with Martin Day in March, but it was ultimately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He'll take on an opponent in Newson who earned a victory (that was later overturned) back in February when he finished Domingo Pilarte in the first round. While Costa owns massive advantages of four inches in height and six inches in reach, he still finds himself a slight betting underdog of roughly (+120) as of the start of fight week.

January 27, 2020
Costa will face Martin Day (knee) in a bantamweight matchup at UFC Columbus on March 28, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Costa suffered a submission loss in his first UFC action but bounced back in October by defeating Boston Salmon via TKO (punches) at UFC Boston. Costa took advantage of Salmon's poor striking defense by landing several right hands, defeating him in Round 1. Day's most recent fight came in November 2018, when he lost to Pingyuan Lin via split decision at UFC Fight Night 141 in Beijing, China. He then underwent knee surgery in June that has kept him sidelined since then. The two fighters are even in height and reach.
Secures first UFC victory

October 18, 2019
Costa defeated Boston Salmon via TKO (punches) at 2:15 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Friday in Boston.
ANALYSIS
Born in nearby Taunton, Massachusetts, Costa put on a show for his friends and family. Recognizing Salmon's striking defense was woefully inadequate, Costa, who has legitimate power, blasted his opponent with repeated unanswered right hands. In the few instances in which Salmon attempted to close the distance between the two, Costa immediately separated and got back to blasting his overmatched opponent. It was a strong rebound effort for Costa on the heels of his submission loss to Brandon Davis in his UFC debut in April.
