Struggles continue in Vegas
Weaver lost to Jalin Turner via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:20 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Weaver earned his UFC opportunity with a decision victory on Dana White's Contender Series last summer, but it's been tough sledding since he officially joined the company earlier this year. Weaver picked up a disqualification win in his UFC debut in February and has since been submitted twice (both via rear-naked choke) over the course of the past four-plus months. Weaver is just 28 years of age, but his offensive and defensive arsenals have been severely lacking since joining the UFC. It's entirely possible Weaver doesn't get a third opportunity with the company.

Now fighting Turner
Weaver will now face Jalin Turner at the UFC event Saturday, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Weaver's original opponent, Frank Camacho, had to withdraw late for undisclosed reasons. Jalin Turner accepted the fight on short notice, but he should be pretty well prepared after thinking he was going to take on Thiago Moises last week before that bout was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns surrounding Moises. This lightweight bout will be Weaver's first fight since he lost to Roosevelt Roberts back in late May.

Submitted in Las Vegas
Weaver lost to Roosevelt Roberts via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:26 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's been a rough 36 hours for Weaver. He missed weight on Friday morning, donated 20 percent of his purse to Roberts in order to have the fight proceed, and then ended up with a loss on his record. Weaver was beaten up badly on the feet before Roberts eventually flipped him over and choked him out. The sample size is small, but Weaver hasn't looked great over the course of his first two (1-1) UFC bouts. His lone victory came by way of DQ in a fight he was getting beat in. He brings a bunch of energy to the table, but his technical skills are clearly lacking.

Fight on schedule
Weaver's scheduled lightweight matchup against Roosevelt Roberts will remain on the UFC Apex card, Jose Youngs of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS

Misses weight Friday
Weaver weighed in at 157.5 pounds on Friday for his scheduled matchup against Roosevelt Roberts, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Weaver made it to the scales within the first half hour of them being open, so it's unclear if this is a calibration issue, or if he knew the weight simply wasn't going to come off. He ultimately weighed in 1.5 pounds over the lightweight limit for a non-title fight. His management team will now head to the negotiating table, and he'll likely need to forfeit a percentage of his purse for this fight to remain on the card. Weaver is currently listed as a (+270) underdog for this matchup and it remains to be seen how bettors will react.
