Weaver lost to Roosevelt Roberts via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:26 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
It's been a rough 36 hours for Weaver. He missed weight on Friday morning, donated 20 percent of his purse to Roberts in order to have the fight proceed, and then ended up with a loss on his record. Weaver was beaten up badly on the feet before Roberts eventually flipped him over and choked him out. The sample size is small, but Weaver hasn't looked great over the course of his first two (1-1) UFC bouts. His lone victory came by way of DQ in a fight he was getting beat in. He brings a bunch of energy to the table, but his technical skills are clearly lacking.
Fight on schedule
May 29, 2020
Weaver's scheduled lightweight matchup against Roosevelt Roberts will remain on the UFC Apex card, Jose Youngs of reports.
Weaver will have to forfeit 20 percent of his fight purse to Roberts, but everything else will remain as planned despite him missing weight by 1.5 pounds. Weaver remains a sizable betting underdog for this bout scheduled for the main card.
Misses weight Friday
May 29, 2020
Weaver weighed in at 157.5 pounds on Friday for his scheduled matchup against Roosevelt Roberts, reports.
Weaver made it to the scales within the first half hour of them being open, so it's unclear if this is a calibration issue, or if he knew the weight simply wasn't going to come off. He ultimately weighed in 1.5 pounds over the lightweight limit for a non-title fight. His management team will now head to the negotiating table, and he'll likely need to forfeit a percentage of his purse for this fight to remain on the card. Weaver is currently listed as a (+270) underdog for this matchup and it remains to be seen how bettors will react.
To compete May 30
May 21, 2020
Weaver will take on Roosevelt Roberts in a lightweight matchup scheduled for May 30 at the UFC Apex Center in Las Vegas, Farah Hannoun of reports.
Weaver's UFC career has been a mixed bag to date, as he earned a contract via decision on Dana White's Contender Series, had to withdraw from his original UFC debut in Tampa and then won his actual debut via DQ last February. He'll get a chance to pick up a notable win in nine days, however, as Roberts is a highly-regarded prospect that is 3-1 under the UFC banner. Weaver will give up two inches in height, but both men hold a 73-inch reach.
Picks up win via DQ

Weaver defeated Kazula Vargas via disqualification (illegal knee) at 4:02 of Round 1 at UFC Rio Rancho on Saturday.
Weaver allowed Vargas to get the better of him in the early striking exchanges and was taken down, but seriously threatened with a guillotine off his back. Vargas was able to escape that and continued in top position, but in pursuit of ground-and-pound, launched an illegal knee that connected square with the head of Weaver. Weaver was deemed unfit to continue, and will pick up the victory via disqualification. This isn't the way anyone wants to win, and the duo expressed interest in an immediate rematch following the fight.
