The Sniper

Next fight scheduled for July
May 23, 2021
Lazzez (10-2-0) will fight Niklas Stolze (12-4-0) in a welterweight matchup at a UFC Fight Night event on July 31, Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie reports.
Lazzez dropped his most recent fight against Warlley Alves via TKO (kick and punches) at UFC Fight Island 8 in January. It was the 25-year-old's first UFC loss and second loss overall in his MMA career. Lazzez possesses plenty of striking power and will try to use that to his advantage against Stolze, who lost his promotional debut back in July.

Stunned by body kicks
January 20, 2021
Lazzez lost to Warlley Alves via TKO (kick and punches) at 2:35 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Island 8 on Wednesday.
Lazzez wasn't given any space by Alves early, as he ate a couple shots before getting backed up into the cage, only to absorb a few heavy elbows. He gave up a takedown, and while he eventually got back to his feet, Alves didn't let up. Alves fired up three consecutive body kicks that buckled Lazzez and was the beginning of the end. Lazzez covered up, and Alves only needed a few ground strikes before Herb Dean jumped in to call things off. He falls to 1-1 in the UFC with only his second professional loss.
Taking on Warlley Alves
January 4, 2021
Lazzez will face Warlley Alves on Jan. 20, Marcel Dorff of reports.
The matchup was set on relatively short notice after Christian Aguilera withdrew from his scheduled Jan. 16 fight against Alves for undisclosed reasons Monday. Lazzez will be looking to improve his UFC record to 2-0 against a fighter who's been on the losing side in two of his last three trips to the Octagon.
Positive for COVID-19, out Oct. 17
October 7, 2020
Lazzez (10-1-0) withdrew from his scheduled welterweight fight Oct. 17 against David Zawada (17-5-0) at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi after recently testing positive for COVID-19, Farah Hannoun of USA Today reports.
Lazzez, who earlier this year became the Arab-born fighter to sign with the UFC, will now have to wait until later in 2020 or 2021 to make his second fight with the promotion while he recovers from the coronavirus. The 25-year-old impressed in his UFC debut back in July, when he defeated Abdul Razak Alhassan via unanimous decision.
Matchup with Zawada on tap
September 9, 2020
Lazzez (10-1-0) is slated to face David Zawada (17-5-0) in a welterweight fight at the UFC's Oct. 17 event on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, Farah Hannoun of USA Today reports.
The UFC's first Arab-born fighter, Lazzez came up huge in his promotional debut back on July 15, when he scored an upset victory over Abdul Razak Alhassan. He'll return to Fight Island for his second fight in a row, this time taking on another fighter in Zawada who is coming off a huge upset win of his own. Zawada improved his UFC record to 1-2 last November in Moscow, where he submitted Abubakar Nurmagomedov in the first round.
Shines in UFC debut
July 15, 2020
Lazzez defeated Abdul Razak Alhassan via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi.
It's a story that is bound to be repeated countless times. The UFC knew nothing about Lazzez until a friend of President Dana White's son showed him a clip at a birthday party. White put the friend in touch with matchmaker Sean Shelby and the rest is history. Lazzez more than held up his end of the deal, and he did so against an opponent who missed weight by three pounds. Lazzez showed off an excellent chin in addition to an impressive wrestling game. He scored on all four of his takedown attempts en route to a 114-70 edge in total strikes landed. It truly was a strong, unexpected performance from the 25-year-old. This fight was also awarded Fight of the Night honors, but only Lazzez will walk away with the $50,000 bonus since his opponent missed weight.
