Zhu Rong

Milestone victory in Vegas
September 18, 2021
Rong defeated Brandon Jenkins via TKO (punches) at 4:35 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
It was a dominant effort by Rong, and one that would have looked that much better had he not missed weight by two pounds on Friday morning. He forfeited 20 percent of his purse to Jenkins in order for the fight to proceed, and then went out and hammered him. Rong won the total strike battle by a 134-67 count, landed six of eight takedowns, and racked up 9:27 worth of control time. Total domination. According to Mike Bohm of MMA Junkie, Rong (birthday: 3-7-2000) becomes the first fighter born in the 2000's to secure a UFC victory. He won't be the last. Rong has real potential if he can get the weight cutting issues under control.

Rong missed the lightweight limit by two pounds at Friday's weigh-ins and will have to forfeit 20 percent of his purse, Alexander K Lee of MMA Fighting reports.
Rong came in overweight at Friday's weigh-ins but will still fight Saturday. HIs bout against Brandon Jenkins will proceed as planned with Rong forfeiting 20 percent of his purse. The 21-year-old will look to reverse things after losing his UFC debut to Kazula Vargas back in April.

Taking on Dakota Bush in September
May 17, 2021
Zhu (17-4-0) is scheduled to face Dakota Bush (8-3-0) in a lightweight fight during the UFC's Sept. 18 event, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA.nl reports.
The first matchup added to the Sept. 18 card, the Zhu-Bush bout features a pair of UFC newcomers who both lost in their promotional debuts earlier this spring. In the case of Zhu, he lost via unanimous decision to Rodrigo Vargas on April 24, ending a 10-fight winning streak for the 21-year-old.
Drops debut as hefty favorite
April 24, 2021
Zhurong lost to Kazula Vargas via unanimous decision (28-29, 26-30, 28-29) at UFC 261 on Saturday in Jacksonville.
Zhurong's UFC debut would result in the end of his 10-fight winning streak. While he was able to land some power shots in the later stages of the bout, Zhurong's offensive effectiveness throughout the fight was minimal, at best. He was able to shrug off a very deep guillotine attempt from Vargas in Round 1, but that was the highlight of his evening. Zhurong is one of the youngest fighters on the UFC roster having turned just 21 years of age last month, but there wasn't a heck of a lot to get excited about Saturday.
Set for UFC debut
March 16, 2021
Rong will square off against Kazula Vargas in his UFC debut April 24, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
Rong sports a 17-3-0 professional record and hasn't lost a match since January of 2018. He's finished the majority of his fights via KO/TKO and takes on a fighter in Vargas who has finished the majority of his victories in a similar fashion, so there should be a large chunk of haymakers thrown in each direction. Rong stands four inches taller than his opponent and also sports a one-inch reach advantage, so he will likely aim to keep his opponent at a distance.
