Struggles after long layoff
LightweightUFC
September 12, 2020
Patrick lost to Bobby Green via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Patrick's first fight in nearly two years did not go well, as the Brazilian clearly dropped all three rounds. Patrick attempted to implement his wrestling game knowing Green's propensity to excel in reckless brawls but ended up failing on all five of his takedown attempts. In fact, it was Green who ended up landing three of his four tries. It's understandable that Patrick was rusty given all the time he spent on the sidelines, but he simply cannot afford performances like this given his advanced age. Patrick turned 37 years old this past July and is going to have to get back into the Octagon in short order if he hopes to make any sort of run at 155 pounds. Patrick's last victory came on February 3, 2018.

Patrick is coming off a loss to Scott Holtzman that snapped a three-fight winning streak under the UFC banner. He's currently listed as roughly a (+195) betting underdog as of the beginning of fight week.

ANALYSIS
Patrick was last supposed to fight on July 18 against Marc Diakiese, but ultimately pulled out for an undisclosed reason. This will be his first appearance in the Octagon since October of 2018, but he stands as a (-270) betting favorite with fight night just a few weeks away.
