Added to Sao Paulo card
LightweightUFC
August 30, 2019
Trinaldo has been booked to fight Bobby Green at UFC Sao Paulo on Nov. 16, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The last couple years for Trinaldo have been up-and-down, as the lightweight is 2-3 in his last four trips to the Octagon dating back to early 2017. He most recently lost to Alexander Hernandez via unanimous decision in what turned out to be a rather controversial outcome. Nevertheless, Trinaldo will look to get back on track come November against Green, who only has one victory since late 2014 and recently came out of retirement.

Drops controversial decision
LightweightUFC
July 20, 2019
Trinaldo lost to Alexander Hernandez via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC San Antonio on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
This was a fight Trinaldo appeared to win, as he landed the better power shots and had a slight edge in Octagon control time. He also won the unofficial striking battle 24-to-20, but it wasn't enough to convince the judges he deserved the victory. While the decision was controversial, this is truly a fight that neither combatant truly deserved to win, as this fight will be defined by a marked lack of aggression. Trinaldo remains capable at the age of 40, but this effort won't do much for his status with UFC brass.
Gets fight with Alexander Hernandez
LightweightUFC
June 13, 2019
Trinaldo has been booked to take on Alexander Hernandez at UFC San Antonio on July 20, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Just over a month removed from his fight at UFC 237 getting scratched, Trinaldo already has another fight on deck. The bout with Hernandez has been a long time in the making, as they were originally supposed to give it a go at UFC 233, but Hernandez was re-booked for another bout at UFC Brooklyn. Trinaldo has split his last four fights in the octagon after he rattled off seven straight wins dating back to 2014.
Scratched from UFC 237 card
LightweightUFC
May 10, 2019
Trinaldo's fight with Ferreira has been removed from the UFC 237 card with Ferreira dealing with some health concerns, Marc Raimondi of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Coming off a KO of Evan Dunham via a knee to the body, Trinaldo was aiming for back-to-back wins for the first time since 2016. Unfortunately, he will need to wait for his next opportunity to do so following news that Ferreira has developed kidney stones and will be unable to get in the octagon. It's unclear exactly when Trinaldo will be scheduled for his next bout.
Gets tough matchup in Brazil
LightweightUFC
May 5, 2019
Trinaldo will take on Diego Ferreira in a lightweight matchup at UFC 237 on May 11, Combate Brazil reports.
ANALYSIS
The pair of Brazilians will face off on the pay-per-view portion of the card, where Trinaldo currently sits as approximately a (+135) betting underdog. Trinaldo turned 40 years old last August, but has lost just twice in his last 11 fights. He's coming off a stoppage victory over Evan Dunham last September and was supposed to compete at UFC 233, but lost multiple opponents due to injury and rescheduling. He'll now look to Ferreira instead, who will enter with a four-inch reach advantage and is riding a four-fight winning streak.
Loses opponent for UFC 233
LightweightUFC
December 8, 2018
Trinaldo currently has no opponent for UFC 233 on Jan. 26 now that Alexander Hernandez will be fighting Donald Cerrone the week prior, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez was already Trinaldo's second scheduled opponent, after his original counterpart Islam Makhachev withdrew in November. It's unknown whether another replacement will be found or if Trinaldo will be dropped from the card.
