Nordine Taleb
Joins card at UFC Ottawa
March 4, 2019
Taleb will fight Siyar Bahadurzada at UFC Ottawa on May 4.
Taleb hasn't fought since October, but that was a loss to Sean Strickland via TKO (punches) at UFC Fight Night so he's had plenty of time to let the loss motivate him. He'll enter the Octagon against Bahadurzada, who is coming off a loss in December to Curtis Millender that left him with a medical suspension for possible fractures in his jaw and left knee, but has been cleared by a physician and will be ready to go in May.

Draws Sean Strickland for UFC Moncton
August 10, 2018
Taleb will fight Sean Strickland in a welterweight matchup at UFC Moncton on Oct. 27 at the Moncton Events Centre, Alexander K. Lee of reports.
Taleb (14-5) is 6-3 inside the Octagon. His most recent fight ended in a loss via first-round submission to Claudio Silva at UFC Liverpool. Strickland (19-3), who is also 6-3 in the UFC, lost his most recent fight as well. He was knocked out in the first round by Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos at UFC 224. Taleb will concede two inches in reach to Strickland, but owns the statistical edge in both striking differential and takedown average.
Loses via rear-naked choke in Round 1 in England
May 27, 2018
Taleb was defeated by Claudio Silva via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:31 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Sunday in Liverpool.
Early in the fight it was clear Taleb had no interest in going to the ground with Silva. He had the advantage standing and easily shrugged off takedown attempts by Silva. He also caught a few low kicks and threw Silva to the ground, but did not follow into the Brazlian's guard. Eventually, Taleb was taken to the ground. It was at that point that the Frenchman made a tactical error by dropping to Silva's leg to attempt a submission. Taleb turned the wrong way as he tried to lock it in which allowed "Hannibal" to land good ground and pound and get to mount. From mount, Silva rained down fists and elbows before taking Taleb's back and locking in a body triangle. Ultimately Silva locked in a rear-naked choke and finished the fight towards the end of the first round.
Smashes Danny Roberts in 59 seconds Saturday
December 16, 2017
Taleb defeated Danny Roberts via KO (strikes) at 0:59 of Round 1 at UFC on FOX 26 on Saturday in Winnipeg.
Not bad for a guy that has struggled to finish fights over the course of his UFC career. Taleb has been criticized on more than one occasion for fighting at a slow, methodical pace, but he has also proven that he has the ability to end fights in an instant. The Canadian is in an interesting spot moving forward. Taleb is far too old (36) to be considered a prospect, but he has proven to be a valuable member of the UFC roster. Saturday was perhaps his most impressive moment since debuting with the company in April 2014. Taleb earned a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his efforts.
