Set to fight in August
May 7, 2021
McMann is slated to take on Ketlen Vieira in a bantamweight matchup at UFC Fight Night on Aug. 28, reports.
McMann lost to Vieira via submission (arm triangle) in September of 2017, and McMann has dropped two of her three fights since then. McMann most recently fought in January and lost to Julianna Pena via submission (rear-naked choke) at UFC 257. Vieira has gone 1-2 in her last three fights, most recently losing to Yana Kunitskaya via unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 19 in February. Vieira has advantages in both height and reach.

Struggles continue in Abu Dhabi
January 23, 2021
McMann lost to Julianna Pena via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:39 of Round 3 at UFC 257 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
Now 40 years of age, this was essentially a must-win for McMann in order to remain somewhat relevant at 135 pounds, and she couldn't get the job done. It did start well for the former Olympic silver medalist. She used her trademark wrestling to control the first frame, but Pena was far more effective in Round 2 before running McMann out of the building in Round 3. A latecomer to mixed martial arts, McMann made a name for herself beating up fringe roster fighters. She never performed well when the competition level across from her increased. Sporting a 1-3 record dating back to February 2017 with all three of those losses coming via submission, it's far from a lock that McMann gets another fight with the company.
Upcoming fight pushed back
December 26, 2020
McMann's scheduled bantamweight matchup against Julianna Pena was pushed back to UFC 257 on Jan. 23, reports.
There was some initial confusion about the date of the match, and it's now been moved again, having originally been set for Jan. 16. The card will take place in Abu Dhabi. As of early-January, McMann is listed as a slight betting favorite of (-125).
Locks in Jan. 16 date
November 19, 2020
McMann's scheduled bantamweight matchup against Julianna Pena has been officially set for Jan. 16, Mike Heck of reports.
There was a bit of confusion about the original date, but it will ultimately take place the weekend before UFC 257 at a yet-to-be determined location. McMann recently broke a two-fight losing streak with a victory over Lina Lansberg, but that was all the way back in January. Pena is roughly a year between fights as well, however. McMann will have to lean on a wrestling-based strategy here, as while Pena has respectable offensive wrestling, her takedown defense sits at a brutal 28 percent. By the numbers, Pena does have an edge in offensive and defensive striking, in addition to a three-inch reach advantage.
Targeted for matchup against Pena
November 17, 2020
McMann will battle Julianna Pena at an UFC event, MMA Quarantinecast reports.
McMann most recently defeated Lina Lansberg via unanimous decision at UFC Raleigh in January. McMann was supposed to battle Aspen Ladd at the UFC event June 27 but it was called off due to Ladd suffering a knee injury. Pena, meanwhile, will be entering the ring having suffered a loss to Germain de Randamie via technical submission at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas on Oct. 3. Currently, McMann holds a 12-5-0 record in UFC play. It was previously reported that the fight would take place Dec. 19, but after further clarification, the match will happen some other time, per Nolan King of USA Today.
Withdraws after Ladd injury
June 21, 2020
McMann will not fight at the UFC's June 27 event after opponent Aspen Ladd suffered a knee injury, Damon Martin of reports.
McMann will be removed from the card rather than get a replacement opponent for next weekend's event. As such, McMann will have to wait a bit longer to make her return to the octagon after having taken a nearly two-year hiatus following the birth of her second child.
