Claudia Gadelha

Fight set for September 26
July 6, 2020
Gadelha will fight Yan Xiaonan at the UFC event on September 26, Raphael Marino of Combate reports.
The location for the fight has yet to be determined, though Las Vegas would seemingly be a frontrunner if the fight is held in the US. Gadelha last fought back in May when she defeated Angela Hill via a controversial split decision, effectively bringing her winning streak to two. Xiaonan, on the other hand, is a perfect 5-0 under the UFC banner, though Gadelha will arguably be her toughest test to date. Gadelha has a big edge in offensive wrestling volume, while the striking stats lie strongly in the favor of Xiaonan.

Barely gets by Angela Hill
May 16, 2020
Gadelha defeated Angela Hill via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Jacksonville.
Gadelha got a potential break in a fight that could have legitimately gone either way. Regardless of who may or may not have deserved to win, Claudia looked strong on the feet against one of the division's better strikers. She started quickly and ended strong. In between, Gadelha allowed Hill to score the biggest moment of the fight (a knockdown) in Round 2, but she rebounded quickly. The Brazilian has to be thrilled that she emerged victorious in a fight in which she landed just one successful takedown. A prolonged kickboxing match is never in Gadelha's best interests, but she got through this one. That being said, Claudia doesn't seem particularly close to the title conversation despite being one of the division's more popular names.
To face Hill on May 16
May 1, 2020
Gadelha will square off against Angela Hill on the UFC's May 16 card, Nolan King of reports.
Gadelha has had her last two fights cancelled. The first, because her opponent failed to make weight, and her second due to the COVID-19 situation. The third time will hopefully be the charm, as she will look to improve on her 6-4 UFC record. Her opponent, Hill, is just 7-7 in the UFC, but has some momentum with three consecutive victories.
Set for UFC Oklahoma City
February 12, 2020
Gadelha is scheduled to fight Marina Rodriguez at UFC Oklahoma City on May 2, reports.
Gadelha recently had her scheduled bout at UFC 246 canceled due to her opponent failing to make weight, and she'll now return to the octagon against the undefeated Rodriguez. Coming off a hard-fought win over Randa Markos, Gadelha will likely be at a disadvantage in terms of striking versus Rodriguez. She should however boast clear superiority when it comes to offensive wrestling, should that factor into the match.
Fight canceled for UFC 246
January 17, 2020
Gadelha won't face Alexa Grasso in a strawweight bout at UFC 246 on Saturday since Grasso missed weight, Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports.
According to Helwani, Gadelha still accepted the fight despite her opponent missing weight, but Nevada canceled the bout due to an allowance rule of three pounds for strawweights, and the difference in this case was six pounds. It's a crushing blow for Gadelha, who loses out on a marquee event and potential winnings only one day before the fight after being forced to withdraw from her previous bout in October due to an ankle injury.
Set for UFC 246
January 6, 2020
Gadelha (ankle) will take on Alexa Grasso in a strawweight matchup at UFC 246 on Jan. 18.
Gadelha withdrew from a scheduled matchup against Cynthia Calvillo in October due to an ankle injury, but appears to be healthy enough to take a spot on the much-anticipated pay-per-view card. She enters as a slight betting favorite of (-115) against the highly-regarded prospect, though both women have hit a rocky road of late, with each sporting a 2-2 record in their last four fights. Gadelha has faced the superior competition, but Grasso enters with slight height and reach advantages, in addition to better numbers in terms of striking volume and striking defense. Gadelha has far superior offensive wrestling marks, however, should that become a factor in the matchup.
