Herrig will undergo a second knee surgery Oct. 5, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The strawweight fighter had some damage that was not addressed after her earlier surgery to repair a torn ACL in 2019. Herrig is still dealing with meniscus and PCL issues, which she hopes the follow-up procedure will resolve. She'll face a projected recovery timeline of 3-to-6 months once she goes under the knife.

Herrig lost to Virna Jandiroba via submission (Armbar) at 1:44 of Round 1 at UFC 253 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Herrig's first fight in 22 months lasted all of 104 seconds. She found herself on her back about 15 seconds into the fight and was never able to recover. This was a tough situation for Felice. She was coming off a torn ACL and was going up against a legitimate contender. On top of that, she was having all sorts of issues with her usually training situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It remains to be seen where Herrig goes from here. She's now 35 years of age and has barely fought over the course of the last two years. She has some tough decisions to make.

Herrig (14-8-0) is scheduled to face Yan Xiaonan (10-1-0, 1 no-contest) in a strawweight fight June 8 in Chicago at UFC 238, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After riding a four-fight winning streak heading into 2018, Herrig lost both of her bouts last year via decision, most recently bowing out against Michelle Waterson at UFC 229 in October. Xiaonan, on the other hand, will return to the Octagon with momentum on her side after claiming her ninth straight win in November at UFC Beijing.
No-shows UFC 229 fight against Michelle Waterson
StrawweightUFC
Out
October 6, 2018
Herrig lost to Michelle Waterson via unanimous decision (26-30, 28-29, 27-30) at UFC 229 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Herrig's ultimate downfall was her poor cardio and her inactivity from top position. Entering the contest with a significant edge in upper-body strength over Waterson, Herrig failed on all five of her takedown attempts and was unable to keep Waterson pinned to the fence during the clinch exchanges between the two women. When you combine that with the fact she did little damage on the feet, it's easy to see why Herrig came up short. This appeared to be a good matchup for Herrig on paper but she simply failed to deliver. The 34-year-old has now lost back-to-back fights on the heels of a four-fight win streak.
