Steve Garcia

Mean Machine

Earns first UFC victory
October 9, 2021
Garcia defeated Charlie Ontiveros via TKO (punches) at 1:51 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Garcia withdrew from a pair of fights earlier this year, but he finally stepped into the Octagon against Garcia and was in top form. The competition level he was facing has to be taken into account, but Garcia appeared calm and composed while hammering his opponent in the striking department. He also added three successful takedowns and nearly six minutes worth of control time for good measure. The New Mexico native is now officially in the UFC win column.

Second UFC fight scheduled
January 16, 2021
Garcia will take on Charles Jourdain on March 13, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
Garcia withdrew from a scheduled fight against Peter Barrett in August for undisclosed reasons, but he's evidently good to go now. He'll be looking for his first UFC victory, having fallen to Luis Pena by unanimous decision in his promotional debut back in February of 2020. If Jourdain, he'll face a fighter who has one win and one tie in his four trips to the Octagon.
Off Aug. 8 card
July 25, 2020
Garcia will no longer fight at the UFC's Aug. 8 event versus Peter Barrett for an undisclosed reason, Mike Heck of reports.
There has been no word on why Garcia has been replaced, but the fighter filling in for him is Youssef Zalal. He will now look to bounce back from his debut loss in the company at a future date.
Scheduled for Aug. 8 bout
July 3, 2020
Garcia will square off against Peter Barrett at the Aug. 8 event in Las Vegas, reports.
Garcia's debut back in February came on short notice, but he still managed to take it the distance despite falling via unanimous decision. He should have the full training regimen this time around as he prepares to take on Barrett, who will be making his own debut at the event. Garcia sports a two-inch height and reach advantage over his opponent, so look for him to attempt to keep his opponent at a distance.
