Adam Milstead

The Prototype
Falls short in striking war
Light HeavyweightUFC
December 15, 2018
Milstead lost to Mike Rodriguez via TKO (Knee to the body and punches) at 2:59 of Round 1 at UFC on Fox 31 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Milstead looked to blitz his opponent with big shots out of the gate but it was Rodriguez who dropped Milstead with a counter shot early on before finishing him with the body strike. Milstead has been wrestling since an early age but you would never know it by the way he fights, as he has never secured a takedown in the Octagon. The 31-year-old got by on the regional scene by pressuring his opponents and landing with power but he will need to show a bit more if he wants to be successful at the highest level. He falls to 8-3 with one no-contest in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

Booked for UFC on Fox 31
Light HeavyweightUFC
October 17, 2018
Milstead will fight Mike Rodriguez at UFC on Fox 31 in Milwaukee on Dec. 15, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Milstead is coming off a split decision loss to Jordan Johnson back in March, which would have been his second in a row if his TKO defeat at the hands of Curtis Blaydes wasn't overturned because of a failed drug test. Either way, Milstead will be looking to get back on track in a matchup with Mike Rodriguez, who is coming off a poor showing of his own with a unanimous decision loss to Devin Clark in April. While both fighters stand at a similar height, Milstead will be at a significant six-inch reach disadvantage.
Drops split decision to Jordan Johnson at UFC 222
Light HeavyweightUFC
March 3, 2018
Milstead lost to Jordan Johnson via split decision (28-29, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC 222 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Milstead did pretty well for a guy that entered the fight as a substantial (+220) underdog. He managed to stuff 11-of-13 takedown attempts from Johnson and he connected with quite a few big punches. Although he had fought at heavyweight earlier in his UFC career, it's quite clear that Milstead's future is at 205 pounds. While his ceiling is limited, Milstead makes for competent roster depth in a division that needs all the healthy bodies it can find.
Injures knee in loss to Curtis Blaydes
Light HeavyweightUFC
February 4, 2017
Milstead lost to Curtis Blaydes via TKO (injury) at 0:59 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Houston.
ANALYSIS
Milstead was getting obliterated prior to going down. He was beaten from pillar to post in Round 1, and his corner did a terrible job of not protecting their man when they allowed him to get off the stool for the second frame. A gruesome replay showed that after Blaydes attempted to connect with a trip, Milstead's knee bent the wrong and referee Kerry Hatley, immediately recognizing the seriousness of the situation, called off the contest right away. It had the look of a serious, serious injury. Expect Milstead to be sidelined for an extended period of time.
