Still looking for first UFC win
WelterweightPFL
September 12, 2020
Ivy lost to Bryan Barberena via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was a second straight subpar performance from Ivy to begin his UFC run. Although he displayed plenty of toughness in this fight, Ivy's complete inability to get his wrestling game going ultimately led to his downfall. He went for takedown after takedown, and virtually none of them connected. Ivy did nothing with his positional advantage in the rare instance in which he was successful. Ivy's size is intriguing because it's rare to find a welterweight that stands 6-foot-2, but the rest of the package is clearly lacking. There's no guarantee Ivy gets a third opportunity with the company following two poor efforts in a three-month span.

Gets second UFC chance
WelterweightPFL
August 9, 2020
Ivy will take on Bryan Barberena in a welterweight matchup at a UFC event scheduled for Sept. 12 in Las Vegas, Nolan King of MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Ivy's UFC debut did not go as planned, as he was finished in under a minute by Christian Aguilera despite entering as a (-240) betting favorite. This mirrors the kill-or-be-killed mentality of his time on the regional circuits, as none of Ivy's 11 pro fights have ever needed the judges. He'll get a solid test in his next trip to the cage against Barberena, a veteran of 10 UFC fights that is very difficult to put away. Barberena lands an impressive 5.65 significant strikes per minute, but can be hit as well, absorbing 5.0. Ivy will also hold two-inch advantages in height and reach.
Receives medical suspension
WelterweightPFL
June 15, 2020
Ivy has been given a medical suspension by the UFC through July 29, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Ivy will also not be able to engage in any physical contact until July 14. This news comes off the heels of his loss via TKO (punches) to Christian Aguilera in Round 1 of UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas. It remains unclear what specific injury he has, but it is severe enough to warrant a suspension. It was not an ideal way to make his UFC debut.
Lasts 59 seconds in UFC debut
WelterweightPFL
June 13, 2020
Ivy lost to Christian Aguilera via TKO (punches) at 0:59 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's been a wild week-plus for Ivy. He was originally scheduled to replace Ian Heinisch against against Gerald Meerschaert at UFC 250 last weekend, but Heinisch was ultimately cleared to fight and Ivy was shelved. He ended up making his company debut on Saturday against Augliera and lasted less than a minute. Ivy entered with a massive size advantage and as a hefty betting favorite (-185), but he ate one quick shot that seemed to stun him and was never able to recover.
Making UFC debut Saturday
WelterweightPFL
June 8, 2020
Ivy (8-2-0) is scheduled to face Christian Aguilera (13-6-0) in a welterweight fight June 13 at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Farah Hannoun of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Both fighters will be making their UFC debuts in an undercard bout after Ivy was initially scheduled to enter the Octagon for the first time at UFC 250 against Gerald Meerschaert last weekend before Ian Heinisch was deemed to fit to face Meerschaert. Ivy will carry a five-fight winning streak into his matchup with Aguilera. He'll also enter as a betting favorite of roughly (-195).
Out for UFC 250, still on roster
WelterweightPFL
June 4, 2020
Ivy will not take part in UFC 250 on June 6 as a result of Ian Heinisch being cleared to fight as initially scheduled, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Ivy stepped up as a replacement on late notice after Heinisch was initially forced to withdraw due to precautionary concerns regarding COVID-19, but further tests appear to have lead the UFC to determine there's no reason for concern. As a result of volunteering on such late notice, Ivy will remain on the UFC roster. He's expected to get the shot to debut with the organization in the future.
