Brents lost to Chase Gormely via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at Bellator 162 on Friday in Memphis, Tenn.
ANALYSIS
The was a tough decision for Brents. He spent this whole fight striking up at his opponent. As the much shorter fighter, he should have struggled in the striking game. However, that was not the case. Gormley spent most of the standing exchanges circling away, but on the few moments of action, Brents closed the distance and landed with hooks. It was very impressive to see a shorter fighter consistently land with jump in strikes. Outside of round two, Brents was clearly the better striker in a fight spent almost entirely on the feet.
