Mayo lost to Veta Arteaga via TKO (eye injury) at 4:04 of Round 3 at Bellator 172 on Saturday in San Jose, Calif.
ANALYSIS
Mayo had a pretty big reach advantage. When she did stay on the outside she scored virtually at will. However, she was more than willing to close the distance on several occasions. Arteaga had her best moments when the fight was in the clinch and on the ground. Mayo caught some hard punches in the third round. The area above one of her eyes began to swell. The referee paused the fight for the doctor to check the swelling, and the doctor stopped the fight. Considering this was her professional debut, Mayo will certainly be back in Bellator.
