Pulls out decision win over Veta Arteaga at Bellator 182
Ellen defeated Veta Arteaga via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at Bellator 182 on Friday in Verona, N.Y.
ANALYSIS
Ellen has made meaningful improvements to her game since her Bellator debut last summer. In this fight, she used her footwork very well to land counters. Arteaga wanted to apply pressure, but she mostly ended up chasing Ellen around the cage and eating strikes. When she was able to catch Ellen and put her on the cage, the Brazilan was able to reverse the position and escape back to distance. Despite being reversed on the ground in the second round, Ellen was able to seal the fight with a takedown in the third. At only 21 years of age, Ellen still has plenty of time to continue to improve. If she takes advantage, she could be a player in Bellator's blooming women's flyweight division.

Shows improvement in second Bellator fight
Ellen defeated Carmella James via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27) at Bellator 171 in Mulvane, Kan. on Friday
ANALYSIS
Bellator tried to hype Ellen when they signed her as a 2-0 prospect. She made her debut against a fighter with no professional experience and lost. She returned here against James, who was also making her professional MMA debut. In this fight, Ellen was clearly the better trained and more experienced fighter. She never totally outclassed her opponent, but she was in the driver's seat the entire time and won all three rounds. Bellator will likely give her more opportunities to develop before matching her against top fighters. She will need the time.
