Takes decision from heavy opponent
MiddleweightUFC
October 12, 2024
Njokuani defeated Jared Gooden via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's going to go into the books as one of the most lucrative evenings of Njokuani's career. Not only will he pick up his show and win bonuses, but he'll also walk away with 20 percent of Gooden's purse after the latter missed weight Friday morning. Njokuani did an exceptional job of limiting Gooden's ability to throw power shots, closing with a ridiculous 105-20 edge in terms of significant strikes landed. The UFC granted Njokuani another chance after suffering three straight defeats from September 2022 to August 2023, and he has since responded with back-to-back victories.

Njokuani will fight Jared Gooden at a UFC Fight Night event on Oct. 12, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
After snapping a three-fight losing streak in March versus Rhys McKee, Njokuani is set to fight Jared Gooden (19-9-0) in October. Gooden has yet to fight this calendar year after withdrawing from his fight versus Kevin Jousset in May due to an undisclosed injury. Njokuani heads into the fight with a 23-10 record but has just one victory in the past two years.
Snaps three-fight losing streak

Njokuani defeated Rhys McKee via split decision (30-27, 28-29, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Atlantic City.
ANALYSIS
A loser of three in a row, Njokuani would have certainly been looking at a release had he come up short here. It was a low-event, boring fight, but Chidi certainly did enough to win, regardless of what one judge said. He more than doubled up McKee in terms of significant strikes (64-30) while also stuffing all seven takedowns from his opponent. Chidi will be 36 years of age on New Year's Eve and is running out of time with the company, but this victory should ensure we see him in the Octagon at least once more.

Njokuani will fight Rhys McKee at UFC Atlantic City on March 30, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
After two quick wins to begin his UFC career, Njokuani has lost his last three fights. McKee is also on a three-fight skid, so this may be Njokuani's best chance at getting back in the win column.
Losing streak hits three

Njokuani lost to Michal Oleksiejczuk via TKO (punches) at 4:16 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Singapore.
ANALYSIS
It was a wild, back-and-forth affair for as long as it lasted. Njokuani certainly landed his fair share of shots in the brief bout, but he also gave up a takedown and ate a massive right hand from Oleksiejczuk, which essentially finished him on the spot. In desperate need of a win, it would have been nice to see Njokuani fight a bit smarter or employ a different game plan, but that's not who he is. The 34-year-old has now lost three straight dating back to September 2022, including two via knockout.
