UFC return on hold
FeatherweightPFL
August 13, 2019
Collard has withdrawn from his scheduled matchup against Devonte Smith at UFC 241 on Saturday due to "health issues," Nolan King of MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Collard was in line to be a massive betting underdog in his return from nearly a four-year UFC absence, but he'll end up not fighting after all due to an unspecified issue. The UFC has already found a replacement opponent for Smith, booking promotional newcomer Khama Worthy to step in on short notice.

Making UFC return at 241
FeatherweightPFL
August 5, 2019
Collard will replace John Makdessi (undisclosed) against Devonte Smith at UFC 241 on Aug. 17, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Collard didn't fight for more than two years between 2015 and 2018 after losing three of his four fights in the UFC, but he has won three of his four bouts on lesser circuits since January of last year, and has found his way back into the ranks as a replacement. Ten of his 17 career victories have come via KO or TKO, but he does have a trio of submissions on his resume. Devonte Smith has landed a whopping 8.78 significant strikes per minute, though it's a small sample size of just two fights. Collard will have his work cut out for him, especially on short notice.
Clay Collard: Picks Up Second Straight Decision Loss At UFC 191
FeatherweightPFL
September 5, 2015
Collard lost to Tiago Trator via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC 191 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Collard is awful entertaining to watch, but he will never defeat anyone of note unless he changes the way he fights. He holds his hands extremely low and he throws tons of pointless strikes that have absolutely no chance of connecting. It saps his energy and it makes him look foolish, two traits that certainly don't help him in the eyes of the judges. Collard has now lost back to back fights despite being the favorite in both of them.
Clay Collard: Loses Unanimous Decision To Gabriel Benitez
FeatherweightPFL
June 13, 2015
Collard lost to Gabriel Benitez by unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 188 on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
Collard's wrestling game looked great, he landed six takedowns in the bout, but unfortunately he was dominated pretty much everywhere else. Between eating body shots from Benitez and poor cardio, Collard was pretty much immobile for the final eight or nine minutes of the bout. It was a clear setback for a guy who came into the fight as a fairly big favorite (-255).

June 8, 2015
Collard will enter Saturday's featherweight bout at UFC 188 in Mexico City as the favorite over Gabriel Benitez.
ANALYSIS
Collard may not have the home crowd behind him, but has the better resume and is coming off an impressive unanimous decision victory over Alex White last December.
