Ericka Almeida

Ericka Almeida: Released by UFC Tuesday
strawweightUFC
December 29, 2015
Almeida has been cut by the UFC and released from his contract, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Almeida entered the UFC undefeated at 7-0, but she dropped unanimous decisions to Juliana Lima and Aisling Daly in her two bouts with the company. Considering her athletic ability and the fact she has limited MMA experience, a fighter like Almeida should be given another opportunity with the company, but the UFC clearly felt that the increased depth in the women's strawweight division was enough to earn Almeida her release. Don't be surprised to see her show up in Invicta.

Ericka Almeida: Improves, but drops decision to Aisling Daly Saturday
strawweightUFC
October 24, 2015
Almeida lost to Aisling Daly via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Dublin.
ANALYSIS
It was certainly a better effort from Almeida than she showed in her UFC debut against Juliana Lima in May, but it still wasn't enough to get the job done. Almeida did her best work in round two - going for numerous submission attempts and controlling the pace of the fight. Despite her two losses for the company, Almeida is only 26-years old and she has limited MMA experience. The UFC would be smart to give her another fight.
Ericka Almeida: Will Fight Aisling Daly In November
strawweightUFC
August 24, 2015
Almeida will fight Aisling Daly at UFC Fight Night on October 24 in Dublin, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Almeida was obliterated by Juliana Lima in her UFC debut in May. A fight she took on short notice, it was her first career loss. She should look better with a full training camp under her belt.
Ericka Almeida: Loses First Career Fight Saturday To Juliana Lima
strawweightUFC
May 30, 2015
Almeida lost to Juliana Lima via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 25-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Goiania, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
It was just too much, too soon for Almeida. The first two rounds were spent almost exclusively on the ground and Almeida just had nothing for the bigger, stronger Lima. She struggled to get off her back and even though she has a ton of ability to finish fights on the ground, Almeida couldn't position herself to threaten Lima from the bottom. Her first career loss will be a good learning experience for the 26-year-old Almeida.
