Picks up pace to take split decision from Felipe Arantes
Perez defeated Felipe Arantes via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
Perez won due to output more than efficiency. He landed 103 total strikes compared to just 42 from Arantes, but Perez also attempted 101 more total strikes than his opponent. He also landed three takedowns and racked up more than a full round's worth of control time. Perez's game is certainly improving, but we are yet to see him take a massive step forward. His overall record in the UFC (7-2) is very impressive, but he is going to need a quality win before people start taking him seriously. The only two times he fought top-15 caliber fighters (Bryan Caraway, Takeya Mizugaki) - he lost.

Added to UFC Fight Night 98
Perez will face Felipe Arantes at UFC Fight Night 98 in Mexico City, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Perez is 6-2 with the UFC (16-6 overall), as the 26-year-old bantamweight has emerged victorious in back-to-back bouts. The Mexico native will have the home crowd behind him against the Brazilian Arantes, who has also collected back-to-back wins in the UFC, both via submission.

Slowly finds range, takes clear decision from Francisco Rivera
Perez defeated Francisco Rivera via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 29-28) at UFC 201 on Saturday in Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
There was no doubt that Perez won once the final bell rang, but he should consider himself lucky that he wasn't knocked out early in Round 3 when he foolishly engaged Rivera in a brief slugfest. It took Perez a full round to find his range, but he was in total control the rest of the way. Just 26 years old and blessed with a strong ground game, Perez is a fighter to keep an eye on in the bantamweight division. Perez has quietly gone 6-2 since entering the UFC in June 2012.

Favored for Saturday's fight against Francisco Rivera
Perez (-175) is favored over Francisco Rivera for their bantamweight fight which will take place at UFC 201 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Perez is 5-2 in his first seven UFC fights, although each time that he has faced quality competition (Bryan Caraway, Takeya Mizugaki), he lost. Rivera, while fun to watch, doesn't qualify as quality competition. Perez's greatest strength is his submission game, and as long as he is smart enough to not get into a slugfest with Rivera, he stands a pretty good chance of winning.
