Frankie Perez

Falls to Chris Wade via unanimous decision Saturday
LightweightUFC
July 22, 2017
Perez lost to Chris Wade via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 27-30) at UFC on FOX 25 on Saturday in Long Island, New York.
ANALYSIS
Half of Perez's four career losses have come against Wade. While he looked better than in his last fight against Marc Diakiese, Perez still struggled to get off of his back. He also spent far too much time being controlled along the fence. Perez has pop in his hands, but he can't seem to ever get in a position to land combinations. The loser of back-to-back fights and three of his last four, Perez could be released.

Mistake leads to decision loss against Marc Diakiese
LightweightUFC
December 9, 2016
Perez lost to Marc Diakiese via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night 102 on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Perez seemed to have Diakiese on the ropes after cutting him open with elbows in Round 2, but threw a lazy kick at the beginning of the final frame that Diakiese turned into a takedown. Perez was unable to get off his back for most of the round, resulting in the decision loss. The 27-year-old said prior to this fight that his love of the sport had been rekindled after announcing his retirement in August of 2015, but he will need to make better decisions to avoid letting potential wins slip away like this. Perez's professional MMA record falls to 10-3 as a result of the loss. He has lost two of his first three UFC fights.

Perez will come out of retirement to face Marc Diakiese at UFC Fight Night 102, Marc Raimondi of MMA Fighting reports.
ANALYSIS
Perez announced his retirement after defeating Sam Stout at UFC Fight Night 74 back in August of 2015. The long absence poses some obvious difficulties, but more importantly, his opponent sports a 10-0 record after beating Lukasz Sajewski by TKO at UFC 204.

Perez announced his return to MMA on The Mixed Martial Arts Hour with Ariel Helwani on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Perez last saw the octagon in August of 2015, when he earned an impressive, first-round TKO victory over Sam Stout at UFC Fight Night 74. Shortly afterwards, he made the surprising announcement that he was retiring from the sport at just 26 years old. On Monday's popular MMA talkshow, the lightweight announced that passion for the sport is back, and that he's hopeful to fight again for the UFC. Considering Perez is still under contract with the promotion, Dana White and company should presumably welcome him back after leaving the company in good standing, and with momentum.
Frankie Perez: Destroys Sam Stout, Announces Retirement After

Perez defeated Sam Stout via TKO at 0:54 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Sunday in Saskatoon, Canada.
ANALYSIS
Perez picked up his first UFC win with a huge first round knockout and then announced in his post fight interview with Jon Anik that he would be retiring immediately. It is a shocking turn of events for a fighter who is just 26-years old. Perez stated that he was tired of putting his body and his family through the hardships of fighting. It's an admirable stance from the young man. If this is truly the end, he certainly went out in blazing fashion.
