Perez lost to Marc Diakiese via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night 102 on Friday.

Perez seemed to have Diakiese on the ropes after cutting him open with elbows in Round 2, but threw a lazy kick at the beginning of the final frame that Diakiese turned into a takedown. Perez was unable to get off his back for most of the round, resulting in the decision loss. The 27-year-old said prior to this fight that his love of the sport had been rekindled after announcing his retirement in August of 2015, but he will need to make better decisions to avoid letting potential wins slip away like this. Perez's professional MMA record falls to 10-3 as a result of the loss. He has lost two of his first three UFC fights.

It is a shocking turn of events for a fighter who is just 26-years old. Perez stated that he was tired of putting his body and his family through the hardships of fighting.
