Sanchez lost to Mark De La Rosa via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Denver.
ANALYSIS
Sanchez deserved a better fate. While all three rounds were fairly close, Sanchez appeared to do enough in the first and third frames to take a decision. He won the total strike battle by a count of 85-68. Sanchez is now 0-2 in his UFC career after a pair of wins on Dana White's Tuesday Night Contenders Series.

Sanchez will take on Roberto Sanchez at UFC Austin on Feb. 18, Dave Doyle of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sanchez is currently sporting a four-fight win streak, including a victory over J.P. Buys via TKO (punches) at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender series in August, which was his most recent journey into the Octagon. Following this victory, Sanchez was offered a second chance with the UFC, and will get the chance to upend "Little Fury," who is looking for his first victory in the promotion after falling to Joseph Morales in his debut in August.
Offered second chance with UFC after DWTNC
FlyweightUFC
August 23, 2017
Sanchez defeated J.P. Buys via TKO (punches) at 2:28 of Round 2 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender series. Sanchez was one of two fighters extended UFC contracts following their performance, Danny Segura of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sanchez joined the UFC in 2014 but was released in January 2016 following a TKO loss (punches) to Geane Herrera. Since then, he's claimed three straight victories including a unanimous decision win over Manny Vazquez in DWTNC Week 1. While Sanchez wasn't offered a contract then, he came back to face a talented 21-year-old in J.P. Buys. At age 26, Joby has more experience and utilized it in this fight. Buys came out hard in Round 1 and showcased his wrestling background, but Sanchez was able to withstand the onslaught until the bell rang. While Buys has never gone the distance in a fight, Sanchez entered Round 2 with solid striking and more stamina than the young gun. When he was taken to the mat, Sanchez was able to reverse positions and apply ground-and-pound until the referee called the TKO. As a result of his performance, Joby Sanchez was offered a contract by Dana White and will receive a second chance with the UFC.

Sanchez lost to Geane Herrera via TKO (punches) at 4:28 of Round 2 at The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale on Friday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Sanchez was hanging in there, but one huge left hand from Herrera later, the fight was done. Sanchez was complaining a bit about the stoppage to referee Chris Tognoni, but it was perfectly justified. Sanchez is young (24), moves well, and trains with a great camp (Jackson/Winklejohn), but he doesn't appear to have any elite physical skills. The loss drops his record in the UFC to 1-2.
