Wins via submission in Round 2 in middleweight debut
Light HeavyweightPFL
September 15, 2018
Johnson defeated Adam Yandiev via submission (side choke) at 0:42 of Round 2 at UFC Moscow on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Johnson looked great in his middleweight debut. He was much bigger than Yandiev and used the size to his advantage. After catching Yandiev with a short uppercut early in the first round Johnson used his wrestling and mauled him from top position. Johnson almost submitted the Russian with a rear-naked choke at the end of the first round, but Yandiev showed impressive toughness and technique and escaped the choke by turning into it. After the first round there was significant swelling on the Russian's face. Once the second round started it was a quick takedown by Johnson and then he got the tap from a side choke which he finished from half guard.

Remains undefeated after decisioning Adam Milstead
Light HeavyweightPFL
March 3, 2018
Johnson defeated Adam Milstead via split decision (29-28, 27-30, 29-28) at UFC 222 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The numbers look dominant (two takedowns, 6:14 worth of control time and a 176-70 edge in total strikes), but it was a mediocre performance from the undefeated Johnson. He ate far too many power shots and he failed on nine takedown attempts. That's an unacceptable number for a fighter that relies on his wrestling to rack up victories. Johnson's best work came in the clinch as he was able to easily out muscle Milstead and land a bunch of shots. A win is a win and Johnson remains undefeated in the UFC (3-0), but all three victories have come via decision. Johnson needs to start racking up some stoppage wins.
Remains undefeated after win at TUF 25 Finale
Light HeavyweightPFL
July 7, 2017
Johnson defeated Marcel Fortuna via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale on Friday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Johnson had to work considerably harder than he did in his UFC debut against Henrique da Silva in January, but the end result was the same - a clean sweep on the judges' scorecards. Johnson tired a bit in Round 2 before picking up the pace once again in the final frame. He ended up with a plus-eight edge in total strikes landed (47-39) in addition to scoring with a pair of takedowns. The UFC's light heavyweight division needs all the talented young fighters it can find. The undefeated Johnson is a name to keep an eye on.
Will fight Marcel Fortuna at TUF Finale
Light HeavyweightPFL
May 7, 2017
Johnson will face Marcel Fortuna in a light heavyweight clash at TUF: Redemption Finale on July 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Johnson's second fight with the UFC will pit him against other newbie, Marcel Fortuna (9-1 career, 1-0 UFC). He has a 7-0 career record since joining the fight scene in 2013 and gained four wins by submission in the first round. If this fight goes to the mat, it will be interesting to see which of the two fighters has the better submission skills.
Destroys Henrique da Silva in UFC debut Saturday
Light HeavyweightPFL
January 28, 2017
Johnson won his UFC debut on Saturday, defeating Henrique da Silva via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC on FOX 23 in Denver.
ANALYSIS
Both Rounds 2 and 3 could have been scored 10-8 by the judge's. Johnson truly demolished da Silva in every sense of the word. He won the total strike battle by a count of 106-30, he landed four of five takedowns, and he tallied 10:30 worth of control time over the course of the 15-minute fight. It was a terrific effort from a guy who entered his UFC debut with virtually no fan fare. It remains to be seen what we will see from Johnson moving forward, but he looked like a stud in this one.
