Released by UFC
Torres announced on his personal Twitter account that he was let go by the UFC on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Torres still had two fights left on his contract but per FloCombat, the promotion is essentially cutting its entire men's flyweight division. Though some may be asked to move up to the bantamweight class, others are going to be flat out released, which is what appears to have happened to Torres. In two fights in the UFC, "Shorty" bested Jarred Brooks in his debut and then fell to Alex Perez in Los Angeles in August.

Receives medical suspension
Torres will be suspended for 45 days with no contest and 30 days no contact after getting knocked out by Alex Perez at UFC 227 on Saturday, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Torres suffered the first loss of his professional career in Los Angeles on Saturday, so he'll look to bounce back after receiving medical clearance in 45 days. He fell to the ground with 3:36 left in Round 1 after taking far too many blows.

Falls in the first round at UFC 227
Torres lost to Alex Perez via TKO (punches) at 3:36 of Round 1 at UFC 227 on Saturday in Los Angeles.
ANALYSIS
Torres was really up against in this fight. Perez came out and landed a ton of strikes. He was throwing with a lot of volume. Torres did his best to stay in the fight, but he was eating three or four strikes for every one that he landed. In the end, Torres stopped his feet, ate too many strikes and fell to the ground. Torres was undefeated going into this fight, and he still has a future in this fight.

Added to UFC 227
Torres will take on Alex Perez in a flyweight matchup at UFC 227 on Aug. 4, Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
After going 7-0 under the Titan FC banner, Torres made his UFC debut and was credited with the victory over Jarred Brooks via KO (slam) in the second round. That win was a bit lucky, however, as Torres was losing the fight, and Brooks essentially knocked himself out with an ill-advised slam attempt. Nonetheless, Torres will stay undefeated as a professional, and actually have a more traditional fight camp this time around (he accepted the first fight on short notice). His opponent, Perez, received a contract after a first-round submission on Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series, and began his UFC career with back-to-back wins over Carls John de Tomas and Eric Shelton.

Comes from behind to win UFC debut
Torres defeated Jarred Brooks via TKO (slam and punches) at 2:55 of Round 2 at UFC Utica on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Torres ate a spinning backfist that dropped him in the first round, though he was able to survive despite getting up and taken back down again. Though he was the aggressor in terms of Octagon control for most of the fight, he appeared to be conceding the second round to Brooks as well -- that is, until Brooks committed a fatal mistake. Brooks had Torres hoisted in the air, but rather than safely complete the takedown, he went for an ill-advised big slam. The slam could have very well resulted in Brooks knocking himself out, but Torres quickly took advantage, taking Brooks' back and finishing him with strikes. Though Torres will come away with the victory, his UFC debut clearly showed a few areas that he'll need to work on, both in terms of stand-up and takedown defense. Look for Torres to enter his next fight with slightly better cardio as well, as he accepted this matchup on very short notice.
