Kenny Robertson: Drops Close Split Decision To Ben Saunders
Robertson lost to Ben Saunders via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC on FOX 16 on Saturday in Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Robertson deserves some credit here. Despite the fact that Saunders appeared to be about three times in size, Robertson put his head down, got inside and landed numerous power shots. He even dropped Saunders and had a chance to finish the bout early on. Robertson's undoing came mid-way through Round 3 after he landed a takedown. Saunders tied up his arms and Robertson spent the final few minutes of the contest getting his face rearranged. He was a bloody mess by the time it was over. Still, an argument can certainly be made that Robertson won this fight. A former high school wood shop teacher, this was the first fight off Robertson's career that he had a full training camp and didn't have to train exclusively after work.
