Split decision loss to Zak Ottow in Auckland
WelterweightUFC
June 10, 2017
Kunimoto lost to Zak Ottow via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night 110 on Saturday in Auckland, New Zealand.
ANALYSIS
It was a respectable performance for Kunimoto on three weeks notice. In his first fight in more than two years, the 36-year-old Kunimoto predictably had serious issues during the striking exchanges between the two men, but his smothering ground attack nearly stole him the win. He deserves credit for trying to switch up the game plan whenever Ottow began pulling away. Kunimoto is a tough guy, but his career is just about over.

To fight Ottow after Alves backs out
WelterweightUFC
May 19, 2017
Kunimoto will get the opportunity to fight Zak Ottow at UFC Fight Night 110 because Warlley Alves had to back out with an injury.
ANALYSIS
Kunimoto is returning to the Octagon for the first time in over two years, and Ottow is making just his third MMA appearance. The 35-year-old veteran has the experience edge, but it remains to be seen if so long outside of the ring will turn the bout in favor of Ottow.
Set to duel with Warlley Alves at UFC Fight Night 110
WelterweightUFC
April 21, 2017
Kunimoto is scheduled to fight Warlley Alves at UFC Fight Night 110 on June 11 at the Vector Arena in New Zealand, Danny Segura of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kunimoto -- now 35 years old -- owns a 3-1 record in his UFC career but hasn't stepped foot in the octagon in over two years, with his last fight ending in defeat at the hands of Neil Magny in February of 2015. His competition, Alves, is on a two-match losing skid of his own since starting his MMA career with 10 straight victories.
