Leonardo Leleco

Can't get on track in loss to Antonio Carlos Junior
MiddleweightUFC
September 17, 2016
Leleco lost to Antonio Carlos Junior via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:46 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Hidalgo, Texas.
ANALYSIS
Leleco was on his way to losing a decision had the first lasted another 14 seconds. The Brazilian is strong and has plenty of power, but he doesn't have the speed to put together successful combinations on the feet. Combine that with poor striking defense at age-31 and you have a fighter who is going to struggle to win fights. Leleco has only had two fights in the UFC, but he has now lost both of them. He may not get a third opportunity.

Leleco lost to Anthony Smith via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Sunday in Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Leleco had his moments, but virtually all of them were the result of Smith being dead tired. Leleco was badly outworked early in the bout when both fighters were fresh. The referee also did a very poor job, something that seems to be happening on a regular basis these days whenever an event is held outside of Nevada. Leleco will get another fight with the company, but it was a thoroughly mediocre debut.
