Marcel Fortuna

Falls to Jake Collier Saturday
Light HeavyweightUFC
November 11, 2017
Fortuna lost to Jake Collier via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Norfolk, Virginia.
ANALYSIS
The decision to drop down to light heavyweight hasn't helped Fortuna's stock as he has now lost back-to-back fights. He was beaten to the punch by Collier all night long in what was one of the least technical bouts that you will ever see. Fortuna is a strong guy and an accomplished mat specialist but it looks as if he has next to no idea what he is doing inside the Octagon. The third degree BJJ black belt is at risk of losing his job if he comes up short in his next fights.

Drops decision to Jordan Johnson Friday
Light HeavyweightUFC
July 7, 2017
Fortuna lost to Jordan Johnson via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale on Friday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The Brazilian started slowly and finished slowly. In between he had a pretty decent Round 2 but it ultimately wasn't enough for him to pull out the judge's decision. Fortuna landed a minuscule 14 total strikes between Rounds 1 and 3 combined. He struggled to match the speed of the undefeated Johnson on the feet. Fortuna, who won his UFC debut at heavyweight, was competing at his natural weight class of 205 pounds on Friday.
To meet Jordan Johnson at TUF Finale
Light HeavyweightUFC
May 7, 2017
Fortuna will face Jordan Johnson in a light heavyweight bout at TUF: Redemption Finale on July 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Fortuna is coming off six straight wins, including his UFC debut against Anthony Hamilton (KO-punch), to take on Jordan Johnson in his second fight with the promotion. The fighter's 9-1 career record show him to be a grappler with five wins gained through submissions, which makes his debut knockout of Hamilton a surprise.
Finishes Anthony Hamilton in UFC debut
Light HeavyweightUFC
February 4, 2017
Fortuna won his UFC debut on Saturday, defeating Anthony Hamilton via KO (punch) at 3:10 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night in Houston.
ANALYSIS
It's mighty hard to believe after seeing what we just saw, but this was the first knockout win of Fortuna's MMA career. He connected with a shot just above Hamilton's ear, and his opponent went down as if he was hit by a sniper. Referee Herb Dean was on the spot, as usual, but there was little for him to do other than waive off the contest. Fortuna spent his entire career fighting nobodies in no-name promotions prior to Saturday. He will turn 32 in October, so his long-term ceiling is extremely limited, but at least he can say he has a win under the UFC banner.
