Battles through adversity to pick up decision win in Poland
LightweightPFL
October 21, 2017
Held defeated Nasrat Haqparast via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night 118 on Saturday in Poland.
ANALYSIS
Haqparast came to fight, dropping Held with a slick two-punch combination in Round 2 but Held regrouped and went to his grappling to secure the victory. The Polish fighter seemed to fall in love with his striking early, which made for an entertaining fight but he did a beautiful job using leglocks to hold top position and bleed away the clock when it mattered. Held had been a tough 0-3 in the UFC coming into this fight but will likely stick around in the organization a bit longer after the impressive victory. His professional MMA record stands at 23-7 as a result of the victory.

Gains new opponent for UFC Gdansk
LightweightPFL
October 12, 2017
Held will now face Nasrat Haqparast in a lightweight fight at UFC Fight Night 118 on October 21 in Gdansk, Poland.
ANALYSIS
Held was originally set to face Teemu Packalen, but a knee injury has forced Packalen to withdraw. Newcomer Nasrat Haqparast has been called in as a replacement. Held has struggled to gain a win recently, having lost his last three outings. This matchup with a newcomer in his homeland of Poland could be a way for him to score a victory and get back on track. Held is 22-7 overall.
Can't seal the deal against Damir Hadzovic
LightweightPFL
May 28, 2017
Held lost to Damir Hadzovic via KO (knee) at :07 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night 109 in Stockholm on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
At this point, it might be fair to say that Held is snake-bitten in the UFC. After three fights in the promotion he has yet to taste victory. The Polish fighter appeared on the way towards a decision win in this fight. However, early in the third round, Hadzovic landed a perfectly timed knee that finished the bout. Held's run in the UFC is rather disappointing considering he bested fighters such as Dave Jansen, Alexander Sarnasvskiy and Patricky Freire in Bellator.
Drops contentious split decision to Joe Lauzon
LightweightPFL
January 16, 2017
Held lost to Joe Lauzon via split decision (30-27, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night 103 in Phoenix on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Held was able to bounce back from some vicious looking elbows in Round 1 and take control of the fight with his wrestling, but was given the loss despite stifling his opponent's offense for the better part of two rounds. Held looked much fresher down the stretch than he did in his debut against Diego Sanchez in Mexico City, which may indicate that he simply wasn't equipped to deal with the change in altitude. While Held falls to 0-2 in the UFC following the loss, it's unlikely that the powers that be will hold this one against him, as even Lauzon said he believes he lost the fight.
Baffled by Diego Sanchez in UFC debut Satuday
LightweightPFL
November 5, 2016
Held dropped his UFC debut to Diego Sanchez on Saturday, falling via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 27-29) at UFC Fight Night in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
Held's UFC debut got off to a solid start, but his lack of power and strength became abundantly apparent in Rounds 2 and 3. Held relies on volume on the feet and he got just that in Round 1, landing 32 total strikes. Still, he was unable to finish the durable Sanchez and he was never able to get on track the rest of the bout. Held struggled to get the bigger, stronger Sanchez off of him over the final ten minutes and although he is a decade younger and a better athlete than his opponent, Held still came up short. The 24-year-old is an elite submission specialist, but his flaws were exposed in this fight. He needs to rebound his next time out.
Set for UFC debut Saturday against Diego Sanchez
LightweightPFL
November 4, 2016
Held (-265) is a hefty favorite for his UFC debut against Diego Sanchez which will take place at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old Held will be making his UFC debut after a long, successful run in Bellator. He went 12-3 in his 15 fights with the company and two of the three setbacks came against a current World Champion (Michael Chandler) and a former World Champion (Will Brooks). A grappling specialist who has the ability to end a fight on the mat tons of different ways, Held certainly has top-15 potential in the UFC lightweight division.
