Another R1 stoppage earns contract
Barbosa defeated Damon Wilson via TKO (punches) at 4:14 of Round 1 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of five fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
The two men fought to relatively even striking terms on the feet for much of the first round, but it was Barbosa who had the bigger moments. He registered one knockdown earlier in the fight that Wilson was able to bounce back from, but on the second one, Wilson wasn't as fortunate. Barbosa just needed a few more ground shots after that to close the show. The Brazilian has always been a known finisher, as only one of his 17 professional victories have gone to the judges. Barbosa already entered with some steam, having won three in a row under the LFA banner. Now, the 27-year-old will take his talents to the UFC's featherweight division.
